Kimberley: 06 September 2023:The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, hosted her Namibian counterparts at the Provincial SAPS Headquarters in Kimberley on Tuesday 05 September 2023. The delegation, under the leadership of Commissioner Marius Katamila and Deputy Commissioner, Godfried Kauhanda, embarked on a visit to South Africa to continue with the crime-combatting talks between the two nations.
The first quarterly meeting of this nature took place at the Westdene Stadium's Boardroom in Keetmanshoop, Namibia on 29 August 2023. The discussions were focused on how to solve crimes such as stock theft, tampering of essential infrastructure, human and goods trafficking and all other crimes that are associated with the ports of entries.
Police Officers from both countries also shared notes about the new crime trends in their respective countries that are likely to spread to the neighbouring countries within the SADC(Southern African Development Community) region.
On the side of South Africa, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Major General Mmantsheke Lekhele, Provincial Head of Crime Intelligence, Major General Jacques Raymond, Provincial Head of Operational Response Services, Brigadier Monica Sebili, Provincial Head Operational Command Centre, Brigadier Hennie van Rensburg, Provincial Head of Serious and Violent Crimes, Brigadier Clayton du Plooy and the Provincial Commander of Serious Corruption Investigations, Brigadier Prince Mashimbye and Colonel Herlan Coghlan from Operational Response Services.
More of such talks will continue taking place with the implementation of the new strategies that are discussed at the cross border operations, in respective countries.
