POLOKWANE: 19 September 2023 - The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the operational team that arrested three high school boys aged 17, and a 35-year-old man on Monday, 18 September 2023, who allegedly operated under an elusive kingpin of series of serious crimes, troubling the community at Tshilwavhusiku Policing area in Vhembe District.
The operational members consists of Tshilwavhusiku Crime Prevention, Tshilwavhusiku Detectives, Vhembe Highway Patrol (Flying Squard ), Makhado Public Order Policing, Makhado K9, Makhado Crime Prevention, Vhembe District Task Team and Vhembe Rural Safety. According to reports, the Police were on operation following an intelligence leads on various serious crimes reported at Tshilwavhusiku when they separately arrested four suspects aged between 17 and 35 at Tshilwavhusiku and Waterval for cases of possession of suspected stolen vehicle, possession of suspected stolen properties and two counts of illegal possession of ammunition.
During the arrest at Madombidzha village, Police confiscated items such as airgun, 9 live ammunition, cellphones, dagga, Police jersey, SANDF bulletproof vests, balaclava black, packets of dagga, Police rank Insignia, two number plates, maroon Toyota Conquest with false number plate which was linked to hijacking case reported at Waterval area.
Meanwhile, in Madodonga and Mpheni villages, the arrested suspects were found in possession of ammunition. "I'm delighted with results produced by this team, with high hopes of possible dismantling the syndicate that has been terrorising community in the area . It is also disappointing to witness such young boy learners being under arrest instead of focusing on their studies. Those who think they can hide from the law, they must be rest be assured that they cannot run away from the long arm of the law." They will definitely be caught," said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The suspects will appear before Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate's Court soon. More arrests are expected soon.
