KUYASA POLICE ARRESTS SUSPECT WITH COPPER WORTH APPROXIMATELY R1.2 MILLION RAND: KIMBERLEY

Kimberley- 17 October 2023: The vigilant Kuyasa SAPS members spotted the suspicious looking Isuzu bakkie loaded with copper worth approximately R1.2 Million and arrested a 50 year old male suspect.

On Sunday, 15 October 2023 police attempted to stop and search the bakkie driver but he sped off and later abandoned the bakkie and fled on foot. The Kuyasa police followed up on the information and later arrested the suspect, at his home in Kuyasa. 

Police searched the bakkie and found 50 meters copper cable and a transformer worth about R1.2 million. Police also confiscated tools like a saw, spanners, pliers, a set of binoculars and the bakkie, as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of crime.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Koliswa Otola commended the SAPS members for the outstanding arrested reiterated that the we will continue to intensify our efforts to curb crimes focused on tampering/damaging of essential infrastructure in our province.
