WESTERN CAPE: 30 OCTOBER 2023 - On Sunday, 29 October 2023, members attached to the Maitland Flying Squad responded to information they received of a vehicle that was hijacked in Gugulethu. They spotted the vehicle in Khayelitsha and tried to stop it but the driver of the hijacked vehicle refused to stop and a high speed chase ensued. A shootout between the police members and the suspects ensued and two suspects aged 24 and 28 were wounded. The members found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in the vehicle. The suspects face charges of the possession of a hijacked vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, attempted murder and robbery.
Once charged the suspects will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ on the mentioned charges.
