The Namaqua District Management welcomes the sentencing of Kelebogile Sesing (39) after the fatal stabbing of her ex-boyfriend.
On 5 December 2021 in Onseepkans, the accused and her ex-boyfriend, Vincent Legalamitlwa (35) were involved in an argument over a bag of clothes. It is alleged that the accused fetched a knife from the kitchen and confronted the deceased.
An argument ensued and the deceased beat the accused with a steel cable. She then retaliated and stabbed him.
The accused, who has a 5 month old infant was found guilty of murder with Dolus Eventualis as read with Section 51 (1) CLAA 105 of 1997.
She was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on 10 November 2023 in the Pofadder Regional Court.
The Namaqua District Commissioner, Brigadier Schalk Andrews commended the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Christoffel Bekker for a thorough investigation and securing a conviction. He declared that efforts will be reinforced to address domestic violence and GBV related crimes during the 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children and beyond.
