TEACHER WHO IS A UNIONIST AND HIS FRIEND MURDERED, POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE: NELSPRUIT

Nelspruit: 16 October 2023 - A 37 year old teacher who was a SADTU secretary and his friend were killed in an execution style in Sukani Trust outside White River last night Wednesday 15 November 2024 at about 22:00. Police received information about a person who was seen motionless in a pool of blood at Sukani road. On arrival, police looked around and the second body was found nearby. Both victims had gunshot wounds and were declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

A grey VW Polo was also found on the scene. When police conducted preliminary investigation, the vehicle keys were found in one of the deceased’s pocket. Their mobile phones and other items were found in their possession. Six 9mm empty cartridge cases and one R1 empty cartridge case were found on the scene.

On further investigation it was established that one of the deceased, was a teacher in one of the local high schools and a union secretary. Both victims were positively identified by family members. The motive of the killing is unknown at the moment and police have launched an investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has condemned the senseless killing and calls for community members to come forward with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects. "Not only the family members are affected by the brutal murder, but learners who are about to sit for their final examinations will also be psychologically affected and that can have the negative outcomes on their results," said the General.
