UPINGTON: 22 November 2023 - A proactive operation was conducted in the Danielskuil area addressing issues that leads to societal outrage in terms of food security concerns.
A multi-disciplinary inspection consisting of members of Danielskuil SAPS, Department of Health, the Mayor of Kgatelopele Municipality ,Mr Williams, Ward Councilors, the local CPF and Consumer Protection officials took place on Monday 20, November 2023 in order to enforce food security, Consumer Protection Act as well as raising awareness on Second Hand Goods Act and safety measures for the festive season period.
The team under the command of the Station Commander of Danielskuil, Captain Salvin Van Wyk visited nine stores where expired food and hazardous food items to the estimated value of R200 000.00 (Two hundred thousand rand) were removed from the shelves.
The community members in the area appreciated the intervention by the members and officials from different departments.
