UPINGTON: 23 NOVEMBER 2023 - Festive Season operations in Upington are gaining momentum after Upington Border police members arrested two males aged 27 and 44 respectively in the early morning hours of Thursday, 23 November 2023 for dealing in dagga.
The two were intercepted about 20 km outside Upington following information that was received about a vehicle that was allegedly transporting dagga to Upington.
The members stopped and searched the identified vehicle and found dagga with an estimated street value of R 5 066 250.00 as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. The vehicle was also seized as it was used in the commission of a crime. The two suspects are expected to appear in court soon on charges of Dealing in Drugs.
Police will strengthen their efforts to address the trafficking of drugs during this period and beyond. Efforts will be intensified in an attempt to squeeze the space for criminals to operate during the festive season.
