MURDER SUSPECT APPEAR AT LESLIE PERIODICAL COURT: MPUMALANGA

Intense investigation led to the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect on Wednesday, 03 January 2024 after a female victim was found with multiple stab wounds in a constructed furrow at Leslie's Extension 09.

According to a report, the victim identified as Ms Betty Malinga (44) was reported missing on Christmas day last year (25 December 2023).

The woman's body was found on that said day (Wednesday, 03 January 2024), and Police immediately instituted an investigation which led to the arrest of the male suspect from his hiding place at Extension 12 in Leslie.

The suspect, Lucky Nkosi was charged for murder with an additional charge of rape hence his court appearance today, Monday 08 January 2024. The matter was postponed to 15 January 2024 and Nkosi is expected to make an application for bail meanwhile he remained in custody.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned acts of Gender-Based-Violence and Femicide. The General further commended community members who positively worked with the state in support of the victims of this heinous crime.
