WESTERN CAPE: 10 JANUARY 2024 - A clamp down operation on illicit drug outlets led to the arrest of a 38 year old suspect for possession of drugs in Lwandle. Members attached to Lwandle Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant in one of the drug outlets situated in their precinct and they found drugs. The men in blue in their endeavours to end the selling of drugs in the area, careful monitored the specific address which always has drug activities taking place and then applied for a search warrant.

On their arrival at the address, the members searched the house and found 17 Boss mandrax tablets, one quarter mandrax, and 23 small plastic bags of dagga, stored in a grey plastic bag and undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime. A 38 year old suspect was then arrested for the possession of drugs.

In an unrelated matter members attached to Tactical Response Team (TRT) deployed in the Lwandle policing precinct this morning, have arrested a 28 year old foreign national for possession of drugs.

At about 08:55, the members who were on patrol received and reacted on information about a male suspect selling drugs at a premises in Khaya Street, Desert, Lwandle. They immediately went to the address and found the suspect fitting the description given to them in the house. The members searched the house and found drugs hidden in the cupboard. The members found and confiscated plastic bags containing 571 Boss mandrax tablets and five small plastic bag containing tik, with an estimated street value of R22000.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in the Strand Magistrate courts on the mentioned charges.
