POLOKWANE: Monday 26 February 2024 -The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the Detectives at SAPS Thabazimbi in Waterberg District for arresting two male suspects aged 31 and 44 after they allegedly robbed a tavern in Thabazimbi CBD on Friday night , 23 February 2024 at about 23:00.
Three suspects allegedly stormed into the tavern and pointed the employee and customers with a firearm. They then robbed the customers of cellphones and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects fired a shots before they fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Police were notified and commences with the manhunt for the suspects. The two suspects were nabbed in the early hours of Saturday , apparently hitchhiking to Bela-Bela. They were found in possession of illegal firearm with ammunition believed to have been used to commit the robbery.
The duo will appear before Thabazimbi Magistrate's Court on Monday 26 February 2024 on charges of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
