POLOKWANE: Monday, 26 February 2024 - The Police in the Sekhukhune District are investigating two cases of murder that occurred separately at Nebo and Rakgoadi policing areas on Saturday, 24 February 2024 at around 21h00.
In Nebo, Police were summoned to the scene at one of the taverns in Riverside B, following a shooting incident. On arrival, they found a male victim lying in a pool of blood with several gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services were also activated. The victim (34) was certified dead on the scene and his identity will be released in due course.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was driving in a white Nissan 1400 bakkie, when suspects driving a white Polo shot him and drove off. Police opened a case of murder.
Circumstances behind the incident are currently unknown, but further Police investigations will determine.
Meanwhile, Rakgoadi Police arrested a male suspect aged 25, who allegedly stabbed and killed a 24-year-old man at a local tavern in Mamphokgo village, on Saturday, 24 February 2024.
The Police were notified about the murder incident by the personnel at the local hospital, wherein the man lost his life after being stabbed with a sharp instrument on his upper body. A case of murder was opened.
The suspect was traced and arrested for murder. He will appear before Motetema Magistrate's Court on Monday, 26 February 2024.
