Information for remarks: Minister of Police : handing over of mobile Community Service Centre, Hammarsdale police station
2018/01/27

27 Jaunuary 2018 ; KwaZulu Natal

The communities around this area have been struggling to access a basic service of policing. The need for a satellite police station to bring our services closer to the community has been heeded. This policing precinct, especially the areas of Njobokazi/Mntanontengayo have been troubled by stock theft, murders (people that were killed elsewhere and dumped in the area) and carjackings.

The communities of Njobokazi; Mntanontengayo; Sankontshe and Mophela are situated 35 kilometres away from the Mpumalanga police station. This posed a great challenge for the community as they had to travel long distances to access a basic service of policing. The area is a further 45 kilometres from the Cluster office and 104 kilometres away from the provincial office. This satellite police station assist in the implementation of sector poling and rural safety plan. The services that will be rendered here are: taking of affidavits; certification of copies and reporting of crime and also to enhance community policing relationship to the people in line with the batho pele principles.

I now officially hand over the mobile Community Service Centre to the Station Commander.
