Ladies and gentlemen. It is my pleasure to render a few words of acknowledgement at the end of today’s official programme.

It is indeed an honour to be part of this occasion where we have the opportunity to welcome our new constables as fellow crime fighters in our organisation.

Members on parade, you are all here and part of this passing out parade because you have worked tirelessly to successfully complete the Basic Police Development Learning Programme. You are undoubtedly the future leaders and managers of the SAPS and we look forward to guide and mentor you throughout your careers.

To achieve success and to progress through the ranks, you have to consistently work hard, learn from your mentors and invest in self-development.

You are at the dawn of a new chapter in your lives; embrace this with your whole being and strive to empower yourselves through lifelong commitment towards excellence in all that you do. Surround yourselves with positive, motivated people that will enhance the quality of your life and contribute to the realisation of your dreams and aspirations.

As we release you to various police stations across the country, from where you will serve as law enforcement officers, we urge you to serve your communities with dedication and pride. Remain focused and implement what you have learnt during your training.

You have the profound responsibility to always act with honesty, transparency and integrity. You must always strive to lead in maintaining, promoting and enforcing discipline and good corporate governance in our organisation and to uphold the SAPS Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics. Refrain from getting involved in corrupt activities and always respect the human rights of all persons.

Thank you to the Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele for gracing this significant occasion with your presence and thank you for rendering an inspirational keynote address that will surely motivate us all in our quest to fight crime and eliminate criminality.

We appreciate the presence of our National Commissioner, General Khehla Sitole and the senior management of the SAPS and thank them for leading this organization with dignity and integrity.

A special word of appreciation needs to be extended to the Division: Human Resource Development under the leadership of the Divisional Commissioner, Lieutenant General (Dr) Zulu. We also sincerely thank all the academy commanders and their personnel for their dedication and commitment to training and equipping these young men and women with the necessary skills and knowledge to become competent and professional law enforcers.

It is through your continued commitment and sterling efforts that the 5000 strong men and women are proudly standing on the various parade grounds, eager to commence with their careers in the SAPS and to make a difference in the lives of others.

It is also befitting that we sincerely appreciate and congratulate every person who played their part in the meticulous planning and realisation of the passing out parades across the country. Thank you!

To the family members of our new constables, you played an important role in supporting them throughout their training period and we thank you for that. We now again call on you to continue to support them as they undertake the challenging task of fighting crime and serving all in our country.

As I conclude, I would like to urge all of you present to support these men and women through the sharing of skills and best practices, and through continued mentorship.

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you once again for gracing this occasion with your presence. May you all return safely to your destinations and may the festive season be a period filled with abundant blessings, joy and peace.

Thank you.
