JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL - Police in conjunction with JMPD arrested four suspects between the ages of 25 to 39 at an abandoned building (Mnyama ndawo) corner Jeppe and Nugget Streets on 21 October 2020 at 17:00.

It is alleged that seven suspects robbed New Look Hairdressing Salon at corner Kerk and Goud Street. Two suspects entered the salon and pointed people inside with firearms; they were joined by five of their accomplices. They ordered females to lie down before they took eight cellphones of the victims and undisclosed amount of money. One shot was fired before they fled the scene and a 30-year-old female customer was shot in the lower body. She was taken to hospital by an ambulance.

Community alerted the police where the suspects ran to after committing crime. Four suspects were found inside the room; police recovered two unlicensed firearms with no serial numbers and live rounds. All cellphones of the victims were also recovered.

Firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in other serious and violent crimes. Three suspects are still at large and police investigation is continuing.
