VIRGINIA - The Virginia Regional Court has sentenced 27-year-old Kamohelo Motsumi to 18 years’ imprisonment for the rape of the 14-year-old male child The sentencing emanates from an incident that occurred on Sunday, 14 November 2021, at about 14:00. The accused (27) took the 14-year-old minor male to a farm in Virginia. Upon arriving at the farm fields, the accused ordered the 14-year-old victim to undress and lie down on his stomach before proceeding to rape him. The victim reported the ordeal to his grandmother, and a case of rape was registered at Virginia SAPS The case was assigned to the now retired Warrant Officer Thabiso Twala at the Thabong Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further investigations. Through rigorous investigations in collaboration with Senior Public Prosecutor Marelize Nel of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the accused was found guilty of rape.
Kamohelo Motsumi (27) was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment on Monday, 28 July 2025 by Magistrate Mr. S.D. Mgudlwa. The court further ordered for the accused's name to be entered into the register for sexual offenders and for him to be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
