Media Statement POLOKWANE - The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the Police for swiftly arresting the 18-year-old house robbery suspect at Bendor suburb of Polokwane on Tuesday 23 August 2022. The suspect was later positively linked with the murder of 53-year-old woman, Lindy Oberholdzer. The suspect allegedly gained access to a house in Bendor through an open door and accosted a 54-year-old man who was at his home. He reportedly hit the victim several times with a flower plot and stole two laptops, cellphone, tablet and books before he fled the scene. The victim managed to seek help from the neighbours and the Police were notified. The suspect was arrested by the Detectives from Polokwane shortly after the incident, with assistance of the Mighty Security Company. All the robbed items were also recovered. Police investigation immediately linked the suspect with the murder of a 53-year-old woman, Lindy Oberholdzer whose body was discovered at her house, also at Bendor on 17 August 2022 at about 14:15. “We commend the Police and the said security officials for the timeous response in apprehending the suspect and stopping him in his tracks. As we continue to fight against serious and violent crimes, including contact crimes, this collaboration and the swift arrest will send a clear message to other criminals that the police are determined to bring to book, all perpetrators committing similar or other crimes”, concluded Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe. Police investigations are continuing to determine if the suspect could be linked with other cases. He will appear in Polokwane Magistrate's Court tomorrow, on Thursday 25 August 2022 facing charges of murder and house robbery. Ends
