Media Statement Sterkspruit detectives arrested a tavern owner after an unknown man was shot dead. It is alleged that on Sunday, 2 October 2022 at 02:20 the SAPS were informed about a murder at a tavern in the Tienbank area. On the SAPS arrival they saw people surrounding a black Corsa and on closer investigation it was determined from a witness that a man was shot dead and put at the back of the Corsa covered with a blanket. The witness identified the suspect and the SAPS members approached him and searched him and found a 9mm pistol with removed serial numbers and 1 empty magazine. The motive for the murder is still under investigation. The deceased is unknown at this stage. He was wearing a black track top and a blue jean. The suspect was arrested and a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and failing to close an outlet at stipulated time were also added to the murder charge. The suspect will appear tomorrow in the Sterkspruit Magistrates’ Court. Ends
