Media Statement WESTERN CAPE –Two men aged between 22 and 31 were on Saturday, 12 November 2022 arrested at Bersig Garage in Worcester, after being found in possession of drugs worth R1,5 million. The duo was nabbed following a multidisciplinary operation led by the Hawks South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau team based in Bellville together with Western Cape Crime Intelligence as well as K9 Unit from Breederivier. The team acted on intelligence information about suspects who were travelling from Gauteng to Cape Town with a truck stashed with drugs. K9 Breederivier spotted the truck matching the description and stopped it at the garage, in Worcester. Upon conducting a search, with the assistance of the K9 narcotics dog 'Alkali". Alkali pointed out drugs sealed in a blackrugsack with tupperware holders containing "tik". The duo was immediately arrested and the drugs were seized for further investigation. The duo appeared in the Worcester Magistrate's Court on Monday, 14 November 2022 facing a charge of dealing in drugs and the case was postponed to Tuesday, 15 November 2022 for interpreter. Ends
