Ladies and gentlemen!

It gives me great pleasure today, standing here as the co-Chairperson of the NATJOINTS.

A responsibility which we pride ourselves together with the Co-Chairs from both Defence and State Security Agency  that seeks to respond to the safety of the Citizens of SA, and its inhabitants in a multidisciplinary approach as government departments.

In brief, ladies and gentlemen

The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (known as NATJOINTS”) a substructure of the JCPS Cluster is responsible to co-ordinate the rendering of an effective and efficient service in respect of matters relating to the management of national security.

Is responsible to ensure peace and stability in the country, a safe and secure environment at events such as the upcoming National & Provincial Elections, as well as dealing with matters relating to immigration, disasters and maritime security.

Today we pride ourselves by officially launching this state of the art Centre, by relocating the National Joint Operational Centre (NATJOC) which was based at SANDF Air Wing Base, Snake Valley in Valhalla. This is indicative of the integrated departmental relationship whereby NATJOINTS which was housed at a SANDF premises now locates to a SAPS premises.

The Centre provides real-time situational awareness of entire country in terms of safety and security issues, and liaison between NATJOINTS and PROVJOINTS.

It is also serves as an operational conduit between National Operational Coordination Centre and the Provincial Operational Coordination Centres through:

  • Issuing directives
  • Monitoring/ Analysing/ Implementation
  • Assimilating feedback
  • Reporting

As the NATJOINTS we commit to the continuous collaboration and corporation between department/ agencies/ partnerships in ensuring a successful operationalization of this Centre, jointly addressing crime in the country

We want to thank the JCPS Cluster for ensuring this structure is in place to ensure prompt response to any challenging situations that may arise beyond the elections. I must mention that we are grateful to be receiving cars that will assist us to increase our footprint on the ground to enable South Africans have access to services.
