Media Statement KOPPIES – An accident between a truck and a light motor vehicle claimed the lives of three males while two others sustained injuries near Koppies. On Wednesday 24 July 2024 at about 13:45, Koppies police station received a distress call about an accident on the N1. Members rushed to the scene and discovered that the accident involved a truck and a sky blue Datsun Go light motor vehicle. It is alleged that both vehicles were traveling north when the accident occured and the Datsun Go ended under the trailer of the truck, killing three male occcupants. Two others, a male and a female, were rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. The light motor vehicle had five occupants in it, four males and one female. Only two males and a female's identities were found at the scene. The identity of the remaining two are yet to be determined. A case of culpable homicide was opened and is under investigation.
