Manhunt launched for unknown assailants after fatal shooting in Muvhenzhe village, Vuwani policing precinct

POLOKKWANE - A manhunt has been launched for four unknown African males following a fatal shooting incident in Muvhenzhe village, Vuwani policing precinct, Vhembe District on Friday night, 13 September 2024, at approximately 20:00.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased and his friend were driving along Tshimbupfe gravel road after leaving a liquor outlet when they encountered four African males seeking a lift but did not stop. Shortly thereafter, the deceased stopped the vehicle to relieve himself, and suddenly, gunshots were fired. The deceased ran back to the vehicle, which was then targeted with multiple shots.

The driver sped off but lost control and collided with a palisade at a nearby filling station, where he discovered the deceased had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The police and emergency medical services attended the scene, and the victim was certified dead.

A case of murder has been opened, and the motive behind the incident is still unknown.
