Suspect apprehended for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunitions, and suspected stolen property to apply for bail

POLOKWANE - A 31-year-old male suspect, Lehutso Sefoka (31), has appeared before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of suspected stolen properties, on Friday, 10 January 2025. He was remanded in custody until 21 January 2025 for formal bail application.

Members of Nebo-Jane Furse Tracking Team received information about the suspect in possession of unlicensed firearms. Operation was quickly activated by the Masemola Station Commander, Nebo Station Commander, Jane Furse Vispol Commander, Nebo Jane Furse Tracking Team, Masemola K9 Unit and other SAPS members at Masemola Police Station.

Subsequent to the operation, a male suspect aged 31 was apprehended for possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of suspected stolen properties at Thabampye Village, Ga-Masemola policing area. He was found in possession of special rounds, pistol rounds, shotgun rounds, pallet gun rounds, one shotgun (serial number erased) and 1x 9mm (serial number erased). The firearms were hidden around his yard and inside the house.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has lauded the members for arresting the suspect and removing the firearms from wrong  hands. She further added that its a breakthrough as these firearms could have been used to commit serious and violent crimes within the Province.
