Good Morning!

It is a distinct privilege and honour to welcome you all to this auspicious occasion - the National Intervention Unit Operator’s Badge parade.

Today marks not just the successful completion of a physically and mentally demanding journey, but also the recognition of extraordinary commitment, discipline and resilience. The path to becoming an NIU Operator is one reserved for the best of the best – those who have proven their readiness to stand firm where others falter, to step forward where others hesitate.

This badge is not merely a symbol of achievement – it represents courage under pressure, strength in adversity and the unwavering dedication to serve and protect. It is earned, not given. Each of you receiving it today has demonstrated the skill, integrity and tenacity that our nation demands from its elite.

We also take a moment to acknowledge the instructors and trainers who have guided these brave Operators to this point. Your experience and mentorship are invaluable in shaping Operators capable of executing their duties with precision and honour.

To the families and loved ones present – thank you. Your support forms the foundation on which these Operators stand strong. Their success is as much yours as it is theirs.

Let this day serve not only as a celebration, but also a solemn reminder of the responsibilities that come with the badge.

As you go forth, wear it with pride, humility and constant awareness that your actions reflect the highest standards of our law enforcement services.

Once again, I welcome you all to this special occasion and I thank you for joining us in recognising the excellence, sacrifice and service of our new National Intervention Unit Operators.

Thank you.
