News: Burglary suspects nabbed

DURBAN - Police officers at Mondlo conducted intelligence driven operations with police officers in the Zululand Cluster police stations to curb criminal activities and arrest wanted criminals. The operations resulted in the arrest of three suspects for housebreaking and theft as well as the closure of two illegal liquor outlets.

In the early hours of this morning, police officers pounced on the suspects at Mkhumbane Village and seized stolen property. It is alleged that yesterday morning, the suspects broke into a house in Mkhumbane Village where they stole various household items. A case of housebreaking and theft was opened at the Mondlo police station for investigation. Police commenced with their investigation which led to the recovery of a bed, fridge, computer, television set, five cellphones, cash and other household items. The suspects aged between 20 and 29 will be charged and will appear in the Nquthu Magistrates Court on Monday, 26 August 2019.

Police operations are continuing to ascertain if the suspects are linked to other housebreaking cases in the area. A further two suspects aged 45 and 54 were arrested and charged for selling liquor without a licence. Liquor found in their premises was confiscated.
