News: Two suspects arrested as police recover a reportedly hijacked Range Rover and suspected stolen vehicles in Alexandra

PARKTOWN - Two suspects who are aged 31 and 57 are expected to appear at Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Friday 23 July 2021 after they were found with an SUV Range Rover that was reportedly hijacked in Pretoria West and two other vehicles with engines that are tampered with.

Police Crime Intelligence received information about a house in Alexandra where hijacked and stolen vehicles are parked. The information was operationalised and members of Johannesburg Police Crime Intelligence, Alexandra Police Station and South African National Defence Force pounced into the house in the early hours of Thursday 22 July 2021, where they found a Range Rover Evogue, Renault Sandero and Nissan NP200.

The vehicles were tested and it was established that the Range Rover was reported as hijacked in Pretoria West. The other two vehicles were tampered with.

The owner of the house was arrested and charged with possession of suspected hijacked and stolen vehicles. The suspect led the police to the second suspect in Alexandra who was also arrested after he was found with unlicensed firearm and more than 70 live rounds of ammunition.
