In a Wellington rape case involving a 15-year-old girl that was raped by her sister’s boyfriend, the Paarl Magistrates court sentenced the accused, Jerome Adams to 10 and 20 years for two counts of rape. The 31-year-old accused committed the rape in 2014 on farm in Wellington. He was sentenced on 02 December 2021.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Thembisile Patekile has congratulated the investigation and prosecution teams for ensuring the perpetrators are incarcerated. “We hope the sentences will serve as a deterrent to would-be perpetrators of crimes against women and children”, says Lt General Patekile.
