News: Over 1000 suspects nabbed for various offences during simultaneous operations conducted in Limpopo

POLOKWANE - The South African Police Service in Limpopo have arrested a total of 1236 suspects during weekly operations that were conducted between 12 June to 22 June 2022.

The suspects were arrested for various offences that included murder, attempted murder, robberies, rape, sexual assault, robbery with weapon other than firearm, sexual offences, burglary business, stock theft, fraud, theft of motor vehicle, illegal Possession of firearm and ammunition.

Members of the Limpopo Highway Patrol conducted an intelligence driven operation that led to the arrest of a suspect for possession of drugs on 21 June 2022 at about 13:00 at Makhado. A charge of bribe was added after he attempted to bribe the police with R6000- 00.

He was found in possession of Crystal meth, Cat, all with an estimated street value of R101 000-00 and one vehicle, a Grey Datsun Go.

Two suspects, aged 29 and 40, were arrested in separate incidents by members of Limpopo Highway Patrol for possession and dealing in drugs at Polokwane CBD and Westenburg on 20 June 2022. In Polokwane CBD, a total of 30 sachets of drugs were recovered with a street value of R10 000 and in Westenburg, 20 sachets of drugs were recovered with a street value of R1000. 00. Another 30-year-old was arrested, on 16 June 2022, in Modimolle for possession and dealing with drugs (Nyaope) about 47 sachets were recovered, with an estimated street value of R1175. 00.

A 31-year-old suspect was apprehended for possession of stolen property and possession of an illegal firearm at Letsitele. According to information a group of four suspects robbed a tuckshop at Xihoko village, on 20 June 2022. Police were notified and the suspects were cornered while still around the area and one of them was arrested, others managed to run away in different directions. Police recovered a firearm and a white Toyota bakkie.

In Groblersdal, Police arrested a 30-year-old suspect for dealing and possession of illicit cigarettes. Members recovered 21 cartoons of Remington Gold, with an estimated street value of R5000-00.

A total of three suspects were nabbed in Polokwane policing area for possession of illicit cigarettes and one was charged with bribery. Police recovered 42 boxes of illicit cigarettes with an estimated street value of R189 000-00.

On 14 June 2022, three suspects aged between 24 and 47 were arrested for stock theft, after cattle were stolen at a farm along R101 road between Mookgopong and Modimolle.

On 12 June 2022, police arrested two suspects aged 20 and 23 for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Mamaolo in Lebowakgomo.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commends the Police teams that continued to work tirelessly in ensuring that the citizens of this province are safe at all times.

The arrested suspects have already appeared before their local Magistrate's court.

The Police investigations are continuing.
