POTCHEFSTROOM - The South African Police Service (SAPS) management in the Province welcomed the arrest of a group of ten men for possession and dealing in drugs, robberies, theft of motor vehicle, attempted murder and burglaries. The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 20 September 2023, by a multidisciplinary team comprising of Rustenburg Crime Intelligence, Tlhabane Visible Policing, District Crime Combating Unit, Bafokeng Reaction Force and Nuco Chrome Protection Service. The operation was conducted following the receiving of information regarding suspects who were terrorising members of the community at Yizo-Yizo informal settlement in Tlhabane. Subsequent to the operation, four suspects aged between 22 and 29 for possession of drugs were arrested. Moreover, six suspects between the ages of 21 and 33 were among others, nabbed for robbery with a weapon other than firearm, business robbery, attempted murder, theft out of / from motor vehicle, possession of suspected stolen property as well as burglary business and residential. All the suspects appeared before the Bafokeng Magistrates' Court in Tlhabane on Friday, 22 September 2023. Six of them were remanded in custody and are expected to reappear before the court between 26 and 28 September 2023. Meanwhile, all cases of dealing in drugs against four accused, were provisionally withdrawn pending forensic laboratory results. Investigations into the matter are underway. The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena thanked all team members for their collaborative efforts that resulted in the arrest. Ends
