12 311 arrested, drug lab worth millions shut down, 121 unlicenced firearms and 2 745 rounds of ammunition seized this week [2026/05/18]
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has concluded another successful nationwide Shanela II operation conducted between 11 and 17 May 2026. During these operations, 12 311 suspects were arrested, including 2 580 wanted suspects linked to various crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, car hijacking, and the illegal possession of firearms, among others.
