On 18 November 2016 prisoners were escorted from Vredendal Magistrate court to Vanrhynsdorp Prison. On arrival at the prison they noticed that one of the prisoners by the name of Elias Madakame escaped. A case of escape from lawfull custody was opened at Vredendal. A warrant of arrest was issued on 29 November 2016 at Vredendal Magistrate’s court.
