ACCUSED FOUND GUILTY AND SENTENCED FOR VEHICLE FINANCE FRAUD

MPUMALANGA: The Middleburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 16 October 2024, found guilty and sentenced Frans Nkadimeng (40) for vehicle finance fraud.

 

This follows the accused being charged for vehicle finance fraud to the value of R 570, 885.84.

 

It was reported that on 05 May 2022, the accused applied for vehicle finance at Bidvest McCarthy VW in Middelburg, using fraudulent documents, payslips and bank statements. He alleged that he was employed by Ikageng Ma-Africa Burial Society in Shoshanguve. His finance application was approved by Wesbank, based on the fraudulent documents presented. The accused collected the vehicle, a 2017 VW T6 2.0 TDI Kombi valued at R 570, 885.84. The accused failed to pay monthly instalments, the bank tried to locate him but he was not found. The matter was reported to the Hawks Middelburg-based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for investigation. The Hawks investigated the matter. The accused was arrested and the vehicle was recovered.

 

The accused was found guilty and sentenced to an R10 000.00 fine or five years imprisonment of which half is suspended for a period of five years, on condition that the accused is not convicted for a similar offence during the period of suspension.
