Media Statement PORT ELIZABETH - Safer Festive Season Operations are intended to ensure that our communities can enjoy a peaceful and safe holiday period therefore every effort must be made in realising this vison. On Wednesday evening, 11 December 2019 from 22:00 until 05:00 this morning 12 December 2019, detectives from all stations in the Mount Road cluster conducted raids at various houses in search for suspects wanted in their cases. A total of thirty five (35) suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from armed robbery, housebreaking, robbery, theft, shoplifting, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious Injury to Property (MITP) and rape. The arrested persons will appear for their respective cases in court today, 12 December 2019 and tomorrow 13 December 2019. These successes are an indication to the community that the police are serious on turning the tide against crime during this festive season. The community is encouraged to download the MySAPS App and send tip-offs to the police in a bid to clamp down on any criminal elements within their communities. Ends
