GAUTENG - A preservation order of R631 000 cash and gold nuggets to the value of R150 000 has been granted by the Johannesburg High Court on 30 September 2025.

In May 2021, members of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation in collaboration with the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and the K9 Unit conducted an operation were they executed three search warrants at four different properties around Johannesburg that belong to accused, Rex Solomon Mlambo wherein two gold nuggets, R631 000 in cash as well as two money counting machines were found. The suspect was arrested for dealing in gold.

The matter was then referred to the Hawks’ Priority Crime Specialised Investigation (PCSI) who conducted further investigations which led to the preservation order of the cash and gold nuggets granted by the Johannesburg High Court. The criminal case is still ongoing.
