Media Statement ARLINGTON - The Arlington Detective Service has made a significant breakthrough with the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with the alleged murder of 73-year-old Senyora Mofokeng. This follows forensic results received from the SAPS Forensic Laboratory, which positively linked the suspect to the crime scene. On 03 December 2023, the late Senyora Mofokeng was last seen by neighbours and community members after collecting her pension money. On 05 December 2023 she was found deceased inside her home, where she lived alone. A post-mortem confirmed that she had sustained two fatal stab wounds to the neck and chest, leading to the opening of a murder case. During the investigation, it was established that a struggle had occurred between the victim and the suspect during a house robbery. Valuable evidence collected by the Local Criminal Record Centre provided crucial clues, which ultimately led to the suspect being identified. The pension money she had collected was never recovered. Following the forensic results, police immediately launched a tracing operation this morning, resulting in the suspect’s arrest. He has been charged with house robbery and murder and will appear before the Reitz Magistrate’s Court. Ends
