GAUTENG - Police in Ekurhuleni District arrested three alleged hijackers in Alberton on Thursday, 02 February 2023 and recovered two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

A preliminary report suggests a team comprising of members from Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence, Gauteng Highway Patrol and Aggravated Robbery Team operationalised information on suspects who are possibly linked to a spate of robberies and hijackings. The team intercepted the suspects' vehicle in Alberton and conducted a search.

The team subsequently recovered the suspects' vehicle, two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
