GAUTENG - In efforts to deal with the proliferation of unlicensed firearms, Organised Crime Unit in Gauteng recovered three AK47 rifles, one 9mm pistol and scores of ammunition in Lawley Ext2, Ennedale.

On 12 March 2026 the team conducted an intelligence operation which led them to a property in Lawley. Two foreign nationals were found with the firearms and were arrested.

The recovered firearms will be subjected to a ballistic test to established whether they may have been used in commission of crime.

Both suspects are expected to appear before court on 16 March 2026 on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
