EASTERN CAPE - A routine early morning patrol by SAPS Khwenxurha led to the arrest of three male suspects and the recovery of illegal firearms, ammunition, and suspected stolen property on the N2 near Mzwini Location on 25 July 2025.

At around 01:00, police noticed a suspicious white Toyota Avanza traveling in the direction of East London. The vehicle was stopped and searched, leading to the discovery of two unlicensed 9mm pistols, 25 rounds of ammunition, clothing items suspected to be stolen, and an undisclosed cash money.

All three suspects were arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property.

The vehicle and all recovered items were confiscated and submitted as evidence. Police investigation is ongoing

The Station Commander Captain Lubabalo Kanuka commended the members for their vigilance and professionalism, saying the arrest reflects the ongoing success of visible blue light patrols in combating crime and protecting communities along major transport routes.

The suspects are expected to appear at East London Magistrate court on Monday 28 July 2025.
