NELSPRUIT - A 40-year-old Mozambican suspect arrested for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle. The arrest took place today, 22 August 2025, at about 07:45 on N4 near toll plaza in Kaapmuiden. The police were conducting a stop and search operation whilst busy they received an intelligence information about the silver double cab driving towards Malelane from Nelspruit. The police noticed the vehicle exiting the toll gate and immediately stopped the vehicle. The driver complied, stopping on the left side of the road. The police performed a routine check and circulated the vehicle it came positive. The license disk and the registration number didn't correspond. The vehicle was stolen in Gauteng. During the interview the alleged suspect confirmed that the car being escorted to Mozambique doesn't belong to him, he was hired to drop it at Malelane petrol station, the driver was placed under arrest and the vehicle was impounded for further investigation. The suspect will appear on Monday, 25 August 2025, at Low's Creek Periodical Court facing the said charges
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has expressed his concern about the growing number of stolen vehicle that crosses the border to neighbouring countries.
