LEPHALALE - Lephalale police are requesting public assistance in tracing a 37-year-old female, Cynthia Kgwete who is believed to be able to assist in solving a fraud case.

It is alleged that on Monday, 02 February 2026, Nedbank opened a fraud case at Lephalale police station for investigation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly posed as a client and applied for vehicle finance to purchase a Ford Ranger Double Cab. During the application process, the suspect submitted a false documentation and further misrepresented her employment and income details to secure approval from the bank.

The application was approved, and the bakkie was released to the suspect. It was also later discovered that a tracking device fitted to the vehicle was removed shortly after it left the dealership.

No instalments were paid to the bank and upon further investigation, the bank discovered it had been defrauded by the 37-year-old and reported the matter to the police.

A case of fraud was registered, and investigations revealed that the suspect provided a false working address and residential address in Gauteng Province.

A warrant of arrest was issued and police are appealing to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect as appearing on the photo, to urgently contact the Investigating Officer Sergeant Simon Tjatjie Kekana on 078 472 0505, Crime Stop number 08600 10111, nearest police station or may share information on MySAPS App.

Police investigations are continuing.
