Media Statement from KwaZulu Natal Media Centre 21 November 2014 UPDATE: In the early hours of today, 21 November 2014 KwaMashu Tracing Team as well as Crime Intelligence recovered five firearms which were three revolvers and two 9mm pistols. These firearms were recovered from KwaMashu hostel and E section. Two of those recovered revolvers were taken from the security guards during the shooting and robbery. The other firearms are believed to be used during the shooting. The arrested suspects will appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 November 2014 for murder, attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. 19 November 2014 Four suspects arrested for killing a security guard in KwaMashu Quick reaction by KwaMashu Tracing Team Unit led to the arrest of four suspects who were allegedly involved in the killing of a security guard at KwaMashu area yesterday, 18 November 2018 during the robbery. The members received information that the suspects were on their way to fetch one of their friends from Inkosi Albert Luthuli hospital who was admitted for gunshot wounds. While inside the hospital premises, the police saw a suspicious-looking VW Caddy fitting the same description given to them and they tried to stop it. It is alleged that the suspects fled away heating the boom gate open. Their vehicle further collided with another vehicle which was at the robot. All three suspects who were in their vehicle were arrested and detained for murder, attempted murder and armed robbery. One of the suspects sustained a broken leg as a result of a collision with another vehicle and was taken to hospital under police guard. The members also arrested the fourth suspect who was already in hospital for treatment. All the arrested suspects are aged between 29 and 36. Yesterday, 18 November 2014 approximately 10:00, Sibusiso Stanley Ngema (45) of Enforce Security Company was shot and killed at E section next to Zulu Road in KwaMashu. It is alleged that two security guards were on duty standing outside their company vehicle when they were accosted by a group of unknown suspects. The suspects opened fire towards them fatally wounding one and the second guard escaped unharmed. Their firearms were taken away from them before the suspects fled the scene. It is believed that one suspect was shot and injured during the shooting and managed to escape with his friends. A case of murder, attempted murder and armed robbery was opened at KwaMashu police station for further investigation. The KwaMashu Tracing Team started their investigation tracing for the suspects. Last night their effort yielded results when they traced the suspects at Inkosi Albert Luthuli hospital where they were all arrested. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised the speedy apprehension of the suspects. “The quick reaction of KwaMashu Tracing Team is commended.
