KING WILLIAM’S TOWN: The South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General LE Ntshinga and her management will be hosting the Roll out Plan for the Back to Basics Approach to Policing in the Eastern Cape Province.

The SAPS has since embarked on the implementation of Back to Basics approach to policing since the beginning of 2016. The key focus areas for the Back to Basics approach to policing are to enhance police visibility, ensure efficient utilisation of resources in support of the investigation of crime, embark on informed deployment of operational resources and the optimal utilisation of crime intelligence in support of proactive and reactive policing. Back to Basics approach also looks into a fundamental key area which includes the discipline and manner in which police officers’ conduct themselves as a distinctive characteristic of policing which focuses on every police officer doing the basics of policing and on doing these basics properly and consistently.

 

The event will take place as follows;

Venue: Helenvale Resource Centre, Gelvandale, Port Elizabeth.

 Phase 2: Wellness and fitness program

Time: 07:15 Aerobics
Time: 07:45 Drill Competition
Time: 08:15 Drill Exercise and Display
Time: 09:00 Dress Code Display

 Phase 3: Official proceedings

Time: 10h30 to 13h10

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event. One-on-one interview opportunities will be afforded – NO formal media briefing will take place.

The community in Helenvale will benefit from this program through the visibility of the members and the Provincial Commissioner will have an opportunity to interact with the members policing the area.
