Members of the Vehicle Identification Safe guarding Unit (VIS) made a break-through after arresting three suspects aged 25, 26 and 27 linked to the theft of motorcycles in Kimberley. The trio were respectively arrested at their residential addresses at Mallat Street, New Park, in Kimberley, Caravan Park, Beaconsfield, in Kimberley and Hadison Park in Kimberley.

Two of the suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 08 March 2017 while the other suspect was arrested last week Friday and he was remanded in custody after appearing before the Kimberley Magistrate’s on Monday, 06 March 2017.

A 25-year-old suspect has been on the run and was on the list of wanted suspects, as he was previously arrested and charged for the theft of two motorcycles.

The investigation led to the arrest of a 26-year-old, after it was established that he was linked to the theft of a motorcycle in Beaconsfield.

Our preliminary investigation shows that the trio has been working together in the commission of the theft of motorcycles, in Kimberley.

We confiscated two motorcycles which were reported stolen, after were found in possession of the suspects.  All three suspects are charged for theft of motorcycles. Two of the suspects aged 25 and 26 will appear before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 10 March 2017.

The Deputy Provincial Commissioner Major General Kholiswa Otola, applauded the members of the VIS unit, in the breakthrough of cracking down the nest of the trio who are suspected of stealing, the motorcycles in Kimberley area.
