Ematsheni SAPS members were doing crime prevention patrol activities on 27 April 2017 when at 01:00 they noticed a suspicious motor vehicle in the area. The policemen attempted to stop the white Uno vehicle but the driver had other ideas and accelerated instead of stopping. Police gave chase and this prompted the three suspects inside the vehicle to abandon the car and flee on foot into the dark bushy mountains. Police soon discovered why the three were hesitant to stop – the vehicle was loaded with eleven (11) plastic bags containing dagga. The dagga is estimated to weigh approximately 100kg and has a street value of more than R150 000.

Police are searching for the suspects involved in transporting dagga. We appeal to anyone with information of the whereabouts of the suspects to contact Ematsheni police on 036 448 2618 or Crime Stop 08600 1011

The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa commended the members for their good operation that led to dagga recovery. “We will continue with the drugs operation to ensure to that all drugs are removed from the community,” he said.
