The South African Police Services in Limpopo Province is still rolling out the community mass mobilisation in the fight against crime through the Imbizos.

An Imbizo is eing held at Mdavula Village, in the Malamulele Policing area of the Giyani Cluster within the Mopani District Municipality, which started at 06:00 with a parade and the first phase briefing at the local hall before embarking on the School Safety program by visiting all the Primary and High Schools in the area. Phase two briefing for the main event will take place at Mdavula Tribal Authority where the SAPS Giyani Cluster Commander, Major General Mbazima Ngobeni, will present a crime overview in terms of the crime analysis pattern.

The SAPS Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Commissioners, Provincial Heads, Unit Commanders and all the Cluster and Station Commanders, in partnership with various stakeholders will interact with the Malamulele and Giyani Cluster communities on the community based crime prevention initiatives.

The objective of this imbizo is to address the ritual related murders, domestic violence, missing persons, mob-killings and attacks and other prevalent serious and violent crimes.

During the School Safety programme, senior officers are allocated to schools to visit and the focus will be on the following:

Drugs, liquor abuse, bullying, danger of getting involved in criminal activities and crime prevention hints.
