Lebowakgomo and Apel police foil cash in transit heist

The Task Team on the prevention of Trio Crimes, continue to send a clear message that this province will not be used as a playground for armed robbers. Today, the quick response by members of the Task Team and the local police in Lebowakgomo led to the arrest of seven armed robbers who had just robbed the G4 security company of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The incident took place this afternoon. According to the information, the police pounced on ten suspects who had just committed the robbery and nabbed four of them. Others fled in the direction of gaMasemola and the police gave chase.

A shootout ensued at Apel cross in which one suspect was fatally wounded and three apprehended. Other suspects managed to flee. Four vehicles, three firearms and cash were recovered. The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba commended all members who were involved in the operation for their quick response in apprehending the suspects.
