Various successes and arrests in Limpopo following operations

Continuous concerted effort in dealing with crime incidents affecting the business community in most of the Clusters of this Province, the established crime fighting strategies are yielding positive results with the main objective of eradicating all the crime hotspots.

In Lephalale, a sting joint operation composed of various Police Units was  conducted in both Marapong and Onverwact following the theft of cash to the amount of R800 000-00  which occurred in a shop within the Lephalale CBD. During this operation, three suspects aged between 26 and 41, who are all employees of that shop, were arrested.

During the arrest, the amount of R250 000-00 from the stolen amount and 11 cell phones were recovered.

The suspect's will appear before the Lephalale Magistrate Court on Monda, 24 July 2017 on a charge of theft.

 

Meanwhile in Tubatse near Burgersfort, two (02) suspects aged 26 and 35 years old were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

It is alleged that when the operation was unfolding around Bothashoek village, a suspicious car was spotted with three occupants inside which ultimately made a fast U-turn. A chase ensued and the Police managed to pull the vehicle off the road and searched all the occupants and the vehicle.

During the search, the following were recovered:
01× rifle
01x shotgun
01× pistol with one magazine and 13 rounds
13 x Winchester round of ammunition
15x Swartkip rounds of ammunition
R3200,00 Counterfeit money  (One hundred rand notes)
R4,800.00 Counterfeit money (Two hundred rand notes)
O3 x cell phones.

Suspected stolen property recovered:
01x Green passport of another person, 01x wallet, 01x Bunch of keys, 01x knife, 01x key holder, 01xIdentity document of another person, 01x medal, 01x bracelet.
05xStones of gold
01x Nissan Sentra

 

In the Marble Hall, Lebowakgomoand Maake Policing areas, three (03) suspects aged between 24 and 32 were arrested and two (02) firearms and two (02) hunting rifles were recovered.

The arrested suspects during these operations will appear before Tubatse, Lebowakgomo and Lenyenye Magistrate courts on Monday 24 July 2017.

The two (02) hunting rifles were found in a farm outside Marble Hall near Groblesdal by the Security Officials who were doing a routine patrol who subsequently called the police but there is no arrest yet.

At this stage, the origin of this rifles is still unknown but the possibility of them belonging to the rhino poachers may not be ruled out but the Police investigations will tell as they are still unfolding.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
