King William’s Town: Butterworth Police are investigating an inquest docket. It is alleged that police were contacted by community members and informed that a shack burnt to ashes. Unfortunately the owner of shack was inside the shack. The owner was a 58 year old man who died in the shack fire. It is suspected that a candle may have caused the fire. The fire destroyed the shack on Thursday 27 July 2017 at about 21:00 at Silver Town Informal Settlement, Zitulele Township, and Butterworth. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until his next of kin are officially informed of his death. No foul play is suspected. Police are warning the community to practice safety especially during the winter period.
