POLOKWANE - The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has raised concern about recent incidents of house robberies reported in the same district in a period of almost a week. These incidents happened in Capricorn District between 20 July 2025 until 24 July 2025. On Sunday 20 July 2025 at about 23:00, an 88 year-old male victim was asleep at his house in Mabokelele village under Seshego policing area when an unknown male suspect suddenly assaulted him on the head with an unknown sharp object until he lost conscious. When an elderly victim woke up, he found the house ransacked and discovered that his cellular phone was missing. He went to the neighbour’s house for assistance and was transported to Seshego Hospital for medical treatment and the incident was reported at the local police. Another incident took place at Mentz, Badimong under Mankweng precinct on Wednesday 23 July 2025 at about 00:00. A 43 year-old female victim was allegedly sleeping when she heard a strange sound outside the house. She opened the window and saw three male suspects who pointed her with a firearm and ordered to open the door but she refused. Suddenly, the trio broke the door and entered inside the house while demanding money from the victim. The suspects robbed three cellphones, Plasma Television (TV) including an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot. Meanwhile , a 57 year-old male victim together with his wife were also robbed an undisclosed amount of cash at Lebowakgomo policing area, Lenting New stand on Thursday 24 July 2025 at about 02:00. The couple was reportedly asleep when they heard a door forced open and saw two unknown male suspects wearing balaclavas and entering their bedroom. One suspect was armed with a firearm and another with an iron rod and also demanded money from the duo. A 57 year-old victim was allegedly tied before being robbed an undisclosed amount of money. Afterwards, the suspects fled the scene on foot. "I have directed a team of investigators to make use of the available resources to track and trace those responsible to committing these heinous acts of criminality to be apprehended to face the full might of the law "Concluded Lt General Hadebe.
