POLOKWANE - With the beginning of the year marking the release of matric results and first year enrolment at tertiary institutions, many parents and youth fall prey to bogus colleges or institutions taking advantage of their desperation for education.

The police in this province hereby issues a stern warning to the prospective students to practise safety and to be vigilant of the existence of bogus educational institutions in several CBD's especially in the Polokwane CBD.

The public is urged to visit the Department of Higher Education to verify through a list of registered colleges before they enroll. People are also urged to visit the Higher Education Department’ website or refer to the department’s official social media platforms for this purpose.

This call is emanating from the arrest of three (03) suspects aged between 26 and 56 who were allegedly found operating a bogus Training College in the City of Polokwane this week during a special operation by the Provincial Firearm, Liquor and Second Hand Goods Control (FLASH), targeting illegal firearm training colleges in and around Polokwane.

The suspects would issue certificates under an unregistered training college operating at Indian Centre under the name of MULTI FIREARM TRAINING on behalf of a local registered training centre.

We call upon all victims in this institution to come forward and urgently contact Colonel Schalk van Schalk Wyk on 082 565 7807 or to go to Polokwane Police Station or the nearest Police Station.

The arrested trio will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate's Court tomorrow 02 February 2018 on charges of Fraud.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has expressed his gratitude towards acquiring this success. We are still on the heels of such criminals that take advantage of those in need of education.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
